App Gap to Lincoln Gap

This stretch of the Long Trail crosses over the summit of two of Vermont's 4,000-foot peaks, Mount Ellen and Mount Abraham. There are wonderful views of the Mad River Valley below while you hike across ski runs at Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski resorts. 

For those looking to spend the night camping, there are some established GMC shelters along the route.  

You will encounter some steep sections of the trail with iron rungs in place while hiking up from App Gap.
