Stats:

  • SURFACE TYPE: Mostly unpaved

  • DISTANCE: 34 mi (58 km)

  • VERTICAL: 4,700' (1,440 m)

Description:

Named after the two large mountains you’ll traverse, this route is certainly one you’ll want to take your time on.

The ride starts with a fairly steep 2,000 ft (600 m) climb over Roxbury Gap. Take some time at the top and enjoy the views of the Mad River Valley, before bombing down the other side.

When you arrive in Northfield there are a number of food options to choose from all located within a few hundred feet of each other. Make sure you fuel up but don’t stuff yourself because we aren’t done climbing yet!

The journey home is nearly a mirror image of the morning, starting off with an eight mile fifteen-hundred-foot climb over Moretown Mountain. Once you reach the summit you’ll be greeted by a stunning view of Camel’s Hump as well as a wicked fast downhill into Moretown.

From here it’s a relatively smooth ride along the valley floor, a small climb up East Warren Rd. and one final descent back to the front door.
