Looking for a shorter route that still checks all the boxes for scenery, climbs and off-road connections? This is the perfect route for exploring all that the valley has to offer.
The first climb up Rolston Rd will get the legs primed for the remainder of the route. As you near the top of the climb, take a moment and look back at the incredible Monroe Skyline before heading south and tackling the first off-road section. A short and relatively mellow class IV road with mountain views and a small stream crossing. A short but fast descent brings you back onto East Warren Rd for a quick connection to the next gravel sector. Woods Rd is a smooth double track winding through farms and past the local airport before connecting back to pavement and climbing towards Roxbury Gap. If you’re looking for a quick refuel at a local spot, the East Warren Community Market is a great option.
The climb towards Roxbury Gap starts out mellow and before it gets steep you’ll make a right turn onto Senor Rd. The next 6 miles are classic Vermont dirt roads with rolling hills and very little car traffic. Fuller Hill starts with a short climb and finishes with an 800’ descent into the historic Warren Village, another great place to refuel or just spend some time before the next ascent begins.
The next 4 miles are mostly paved beginning with a climb up West Hill. Cruise next to the Sugarbush golf course and across German Flats before making a right onto Sugar Run Rd. This will connect you onto Marble Hill where you will be glad you’re going down. It’s steep!
The rest of this ride is flat and paved with only a few miles between you and Madbush.
