Breweries & Cideries

Overview

Vermont has more breweries per capita than any other state in the country. Names like the Alchemist, Frost Beer Works, and Switchback Brewing have all become household names over the last two decades. Certain beers like the Alchemist's Heady Topper & Hill Farmstead's Edward have become extremely popular nationally and many local stores frequently sell out almost immediately.

If you're looking for an epic adventure, the Green Mountain Gravel Growler is a gravel bike route created by bikepacking.com that links together 17 of the very best breweries that Vermont has to offer.

If that's a little outside your wheelhouse, get in touch with us and we'd be happy to put together a four-wheel tour to the breweries of your choice, or suggest the optimal spots to check out.

Frost Beer Works

"Frost Beer Works is a small microbrewery in Hinesburg, Vermont. Beer is our passion. We are committed to using high quality raw materials and effective brewery processes to produce flavorful, well-balanced beers. The beers we make are the beers we like to drink."

The Alchemist

The Alchemist operates two breweries, one in Waterbury and one in Stowe, and distributes Heady Topper and Focal Banger throughout the state (with the occasional out-of-state shipment). The Waterbury brewery is production-only (closed to the public), but you can visit the Stowe brewery to purchase beer and enjoy a large selection of limited releases available only for on-site consumption at the Alchemist Beer Cafe.

Lawson's Finest Liquids

Lawson’s Finest Liquids is an independent, B Corp-certified craft brewery rooted in Vermont. Founded in 2008 by Sean Lawson, the business quickly grew from a 1-bbl home-based brewery to launching a flagship IPA, Sip of Sunshine, in 2014, and then opening a destination brewery and Taproom in Waitsfield in 2018.

Foam Brewers

Located on Burlington Vermont's waterfront, Foam Brewers has potentially the best sunset spot in the entire state. Brewed in small batches the brewery and tap room boasts a constantly changing line up of beers along with craft cocktails, wine and interesting non-alcoholic offerings. The brewery pairs its beers with world-class cheese and charcuterie, delicious bar snacks, live music, and local art.
